Our story
Ethiopia, in the hands of Ethiopians.
Twenty-five years of guiding travellers through the country we call home — with purpose, personalization and a commitment to the communities who make every journey possible.

How we reached here today
A quarter-century of journeys with purpose.
Village Ethiopia was founded with a deep passion for travel, culture and community. With more than 25 years of professional expertise, our vision has always been to go beyond traditional tourism — to create journeys that leave something behind.
We work closely with local communities so that travel becomes a source of empowerment, especially for women. Through our long-standing programs we support women to gain independence, build confidence and raise awareness about the impact of harmful traditional practices. By opening doors to education and opportunity, we help them envision a healthier, freer future for themselves and their families.
We have guided everyone from solo photographers to royal families, from first-time visitors to explorers on their tenth Ethiopian trip. Most of our new travellers still come to us through personal recommendation — the truest measure of the trust we've earned.
Top values for you
Bringing you closer to people and nature.
Four principles guide every itinerary, every partnership and every conversation we have with a traveller.
Personalization
Every journey is crafted around your interests, pace and comfort — no two Village Ethiopia trips are the same.
Sustainability
We travel gently. Our itineraries channel spend into local families, guides and craftspeople, and preserve the traditions that make Ethiopia unique.
Trust
Twenty-five years of reliable, professional service. Most of our new travellers come through the personal recommendation of a past one.
Authenticity
Real culture, real heritage, real people — not a performance. We show you the Ethiopia we know because we live here.
Effortless exploration
The story of Blen Lodge.
One of our proudest initiatives was the establishment of Blen Lodge — built with care to benefit both visitors and the neighbouring community. When conditions in the area changed, we made a decision that reflected our values from day one: we handed the lodge over, along with all its resources, to the community itself.
Today it is theirs to manage, operate and grow — a working reminder that tourism at its best does not extract, it invests. For us, this is not a side project. It is the whole point.
"Tourism should not only be about seeing new places, but about creating lasting connections, fostering respect for culture, and bringing tangible benefits to local communities."
